Getting started

This section takes a new Erde installation from zero to a working first Project. Read it in order: it starts with what Erde is, walks through installing the server and completing first-run setup, then ends with creating your first Project, touring the interface, and getting to know the dashboard.

In this section​

  • What is Erde — an on-premises environmental data management system: what it manages, who it's for, and how V1 is scoped.
  • Install Erde — run the Windows installer, choose a hosting mode, and get the server started; links to the full Deployment guide.
  • First-run setup — the in-browser setup wizard: database connection, admin account, optional license, SMTP, and ArcGIS key.
  • Create your first project — sign in, create a Site and a Location, and create a Project from Data Management.
  • Interface tour — the navigation panel, header controls, and where each product area lives.
  • The dashboard — your landing page: the Needs you action queue, at-a-glance counts, a site map, and recent activity.

Where to start​

If you are setting up Erde for the first time, work through the pages top to bottom. If the server is already installed and running, skip ahead to Create your first project. To understand the data model before you enter anything, see Core Concepts.

Running a full production deployment — choosing a hosting shape, provisioning the database, HTTPS, licensing, and users — follow the ordered setup sequence in Deployment, which threads these steps across sections in order.
