Manage your account

This guide shows you how to manage your own Erde account: edit your profile, change your password, choose which notifications reach you, and sign out. Every signed-in user has an account page, regardless of role.

This is different from User Management, where an Administrator manages other users' accounts and roles. To create accounts, assign roles, or reset another person's password, see Manage users and roles.

Before you start
  • Role required: None beyond being signed in. The account page is available to every signed-in user.

Open your account

  1. Select your name in the top-right user menu.
  2. Choose Account. The Account Settings page opens at /account.

From here you can edit your profile, change your password, and open your notification preferences.

Edit your profile

  1. On the Account Settings page, find the Profile card.

  2. Change your name:

    FieldTypeRequiredWhat to enter
First NametextYesYour given name (max 100 characters)
Last NametextYesYour family name (max 100 characters)
  3. Select Save Profile.

Your Email and Roles appear on the card as read-only. Only an Administrator can change your email or your roles, from User Management.

Change your password

The Change Password card sits next to your profile on the same page.

  1. Enter your Current Password.
  2. Enter a New Password, then re-enter it in Confirm Password.
  3. Select Change Password.

A new password must be at least 10 characters and include an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol.

info

If your installation uses Windows or OpenID Connect (OIDC) single sign-on, that provider may manage your password; the password you change here applies to your local Erde account. Local email and password sign-in always remains available as a fallback. Your administrator sets the sign-in options in System Settings.

Set notification preferences

  1. On the Account Settings page, select Notification Preferences. The preferences page opens at /account/notifications.
  2. For each notification type, turn In-app and Email on or off to choose how that notification reaches you.

Email delivery works only when outgoing email (SMTP) is configured in System Settings; until then, the Email option has no effect. For the full list of notification types and their default settings, see Notifications.

Sign out

Select your name in the top-right user menu and choose Sign out. Erde ends your session and returns you to the sign-in page.

Result

Your profile shows your updated name everywhere Erde displays it. A changed password takes effect immediately for local sign-in. Your notification choices control which notifications you receive in-app and, when email is configured, by email.

Troubleshooting

SymptomCauseResolution
You forgot your password and can't sign inYou need a reset link, which is requested from the sign-in pageRequest a password reset from the sign-in page and follow the emailed link to the reset page (/reset-password). For security, the same confirmation appears whether or not the email is registered
Sign-in is blocked after several failed attemptsErde locks an account for 15 minutes after 5 failed sign-in attemptsWait 15 minutes and try again — the lock clears on its own. Confirm your email and password before retrying
Changing your password here doesn't seem to affect your sign-inYour installation uses Windows or OIDC single sign-on, which manages that credentialThe password you set here applies to your local Erde account. Use your single sign-on provider to change the credential it manages; local sign-in still works as a fallback
